Research interests
The oral cavity is subject to a complex interplay of the immune system, the oral biofilm and a variety of environmental factors (e.g. smoking, dietary habits). The composition of these factors is subject to constant change. To maintain oral health, the immune system must respond flexibly to the continuous changes.
Our research interests are on the one hand to develop clinically applicable methods to maintain or restore oral health and on the other hand to identify the genetic, molecular biological and microbial causes that causally contribute to pathogenesis.
