Expertise
Head of the Molecular Genetics of Oral Inflammatory Diseases Research Group
Elucidation of the causes of oral inflammatory diseases. Research focus: systematic identification and functional characterization of underlying genetic risk factors and their associations with systemic diseases. Applied Methods:
- Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and GWAS meta-analyses
- Epigenome-wide association studies (EWAS)
- RNA sequencing, exome sequencing, microbiome sequencing
- Functional molecular biology characterization of non-coding RNAs, regulatory DNA elements, and causative risk alleles (CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, reporter gene assays, Electrophoretic Mobility Shifts [EMSA])
